What Does a Barber Do?

A barber provides hair cutting, hair styling and hair care services primarily to  men, though some women may choose a barber over a salon if they want a short cut or a basic trim.

Barbers also may fit hairpieces, provide facials, trim beards and mustaches, and offer facial and head shaving. Depending on the state in which they work, some barbers are licensed to bleach, color, and highlight hair and to offer permanent-wave services.

Barbers normally work from a barber shop, but they might also work in salons, spas, hotels or resorts.
